Encouraging a world where borrowing is the first choice and repair is second nature.

We all want to see less waste and less manufacturing.
Less of the "new stuff".
More of the "make it last longer".

There are lots of us.

We need to work together.
We need to be seen.
We need to help each other.

The first step is to make it easier for people to find the organisations doing the work, so we've built a global, searchable directory for us all to contribute to.

The directory is here to help members of the public find repair and lending organisations near them, and it's here for those same organisations to provide content and inspiration to others who may want to start or grow their own organisation or group.

The directory is free to join, and is community managed. Each Organisation and Group owner is periodically reminded to log in and keep their information up to date, so that it remains a useful resource.

If you think an organisation is missing, you can invite them using the link in the main menu above.

What's in the pipeline ...
  • More translations. If you can help, send us an email. We'd like the whole platform and email notifications to be available in all common languages.
  • We're working on an API so you can retrieve directory information for your own use.
  • We're building out an item taxonomy, so that different organisations can start to aggregate reporting data. It's a big challenge (especially across multiple languages) so if you have expertise in this area, please do get in touch!
For us all

The directory is a great way to find organisations helping us repair things, and borrow more.

  • Choose your country on the home page.
  • Browse and search the directory.
  • Check out resources which have been uploaded.
  • INVITE organisations to join!

Automated reminders help organisation and group owners keep information up to date. We'll highlight potentially out-of-date records, and hide the really stale ones.

For lending and repair organisations

Listing on the platform gives your organisation extra visibility, and a place to upload those reports, resources and toolkits you want to share with the world.

  • Add your organisation and wait for it to be approved.
  • Ensure you add at least one address that can be found on the map.
  • Upload resources if you have information to share.
  • Browse for groups you are a member of, and request to join the group.
  • Multiple addresses/locations are supported to fully represent your organisation.
For groups / networks

It's easy to publish an up-to-date list of members, as the organisations manage their records themselves. Our platform will regularly remind organisation owners to keep their details accurate, so that visitors to the platform can be confident it's actually useful.

  • Add your organisation and wait for it to be approved.
  • Once you're approved, you can browse existing organisations and add them to your group.
  • Invite your members to join!
  • Embed a map of your members on your own website using the code at the bottom of your group page.
  • Upload resources if you have information to share.

Who we are

The BorrowMore platform has been sponsored by and is hosted by Lend Engine, a software system to help Libraries of Things and Lending Organisations run their operations. The BorrowMore platform is not limited to or restricted by this affiliation, and supports listings and conversations across the whole Lending and Libraries of Things movement. If you're a platform manager and want to have tighter integration with the BorrowMore network, get in touch. We can help your members by adding their listings, items and resources, or automatically update listings based on your data.
