Borrow Magnetic Stud Finder (ETL2673)

Run it back and forth over the area and when the finder detects a screw or nail in the stud it will click. All studs have fasteners in them and when you find two or three you have a stud. Works on: plaster, lath,  tile, stucco and sheetrock (plasterboard).
