Please read all of the manual, to ensure you thread the machine correctly from the top, as well as from the bobbin. In particular, page 15, "How to raise bobbin thread"

With dust cover, and in additional box, electric foot pedal & power cord, instruction booklet, various feet for using on the machine, a few bobbins. 

Instruction manual and sample fabric piece showing stitches, is taped to the machine . Electric foot pedal and power cable are in the pocket of the dust cover
