We are a trio of Watford residents who have formed a Community Interest Company in order to bring a library of ‘things’ to the people of Watford.
For those of you who’ve never come across a Library of Things, the concept works in exactly the same way as a book library, except we lend every day things, not books.
For a small annual membership and borrowing fee, you can borrow items from our library that you may only need once or simply can’t afford. Most of the items we will stock will have been donated items which otherwise may have found their way to landfill……..our team will then give them a thorough check and lend them back to our community of borrowers.
With so many items people buy often being used only a handful of times, our service hopes to cut down on unnecessary waste, whilst supporting local people who are struggling with the cost of living……….thus the environment wins, and so does our community!
Favourite requests for ‘things’ that have come from our community so far have been a portable air conditioning unit, folding tables for outdoor gatherings and even a unicorn!…….though that one may have to wait for the next project!!
